If you’re preparing for the PTE Academic exam, getting familiar with the line chart task is essential. The purpose is to test your ability to analyze and arrange ideas in a short period.
To do that with the limited time, mastering the types of the line chart PTE is crucial.
A line chart consists of three parts. Get a grip on these, and you will easily get a high score.
This is the first part of this PTE Speaking test model. Candidates are required to present the main idea of the chart and include the key point. The goal is to help listeners understand the real gist of the chart.
For example, this line chart shows how the showroom’s sales changed every year from 2000 to 2020.
Following the introduction, the descriptive part is the key. Candidates must focus on highlighting the points:
It’s best to provide a detailed explanation of the trends or patterns in the data. Start with the temporal axis (typically represented by the X-axis). Then, move on to the dependent variable axis (usually denoted by the Y-axis).
By using various words, your better answer will contribute to increasing your score.
The conclusion sentence provides a short summary of the main findings shown in the chart. It needs to be a concise, to-the-point, single sentence. Also, don’t leave out any crucial information.
As an illustration, the line chart depicts a notable growth in sales over a 5-year period, with two of those years being break-even.
