Familiarize yourself with the IELTS Academic exam structure to assess your English proficiency

Part 1: Listening(30-40 minutes)

This part will take approximately 30-40 minutes to complete
You will listen to 4 recordings featuring native English speakers and answer a series of questions based on what you hear
  • Recording 1: A conversation between two individuals in a social context, such as discussing daily activities.

  • Recording 2: A monologue in a social setting, like a talk about local services or facilities.

  • Recording 3: A discussion involving up to four people in an educational or training context, such as a student and a tutor reviewing an assignment.

  • Recording 4: A monologue on an academic topic, such as a lecture delivered at a university.

You will read 3 passages quickly and efficiently, managing your time to answer related questions in the IELTS Reading test. Those three passages, ranging from descriptive to analytical, sourced from books, journals, magazines, and newspapers.

    Task Types:

  • Fill in missing information in a text or table.

  • Match headings to corresponding text, diagrams, or charts.

  • Complete sentences.

  • Provide brief answers to open-ended questions.

  • Answer multiple-choice questions.

  • Task 1 (20 minutes):

    • You will be presented with a graph, table, chart, or diagram.
    • You will need to describe, summarize, or explain the information in your own words.
    • This may include describing data, explaining a process or how something works, or detailing an object or event

  • Task 2 (40 minutes):

    • You will be asked to write an essay in response to a point of view, argument, or problem.
    • The topics will be interesting and easy to understand.

  • Part 1: The examiner will introduce themselves and ask you to confirm your identity. You'll answer general questions about familiar topics like home, family, work, studies, and interests to help you relax and speak naturally.

  • Part 2: The examiner will give you a task card with a topic to talk about. You’ll have 1 minute to prepare and 1-2 minutes to speak without interruption. Afterward, the examiner will ask one or two

  • Part 3: The examiner will ask more abstract questions related to the topic from Part 2, allowing you to discuss deeper ideas.
