Yes. PTE Academic uses both AI and human examiners to assess certain Speaking answers. Since August 7, 2025, Pearson has introduced human review for the content of four Speaking question types: 1. Describe Image 2. Retell Lecture 3. Summarize Group Discussion 4. Respond to a Situation However, not all Speaking tasks are reviewed by humans. Tasks such as Read Aloud and Repeat Sentence remain fully AI-scored. Human examiners assess the content of selected responses, while pronunciation and oral fluency continue to be scored exclusively by AI. Human examiners do not interact directly with test takers. Lume has all new question types to practice.

Lume marks your answers using the published PTE Academic scoring criteria. No practice platform can give you the exact same score as Pearson, so use your Lume score as a guide. If your mock test scores are above your target in every skill, you are in a good position.

PTE Academic scores are valid for two years from the date of your test. During this period, you can use your results to apply to universities, colleges, and other organisations that accept PTE Academic. After two years, your scores expire, and you will generally need to retake the test if you require valid English proficiency results. Important: Some immigration authorities, including Australia's Department of Home Affairs, may accept PTE Academic results older than two years for certain visa purposes. Up to 6 times per booking. Rescheduling is free more than 14 days before the test date. Between 14 and 7 days you cannot reschedule but can cancel for a 50 percent refund. Within 7 days there is no reschedule and no refund.
