The test is divided into four sections (Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking), and each one is structured differently.

Once you understand the format, start working with a full-length IELTS test to build your familiarity with the exam.
During practice, always simulate real exam conditions: sit down in a quiet place, use a timer, and avoid pausing in the middle of a section.
After each practice test, take time to deeply analyze your answers instead of just marking them right or wrong.
Even if you know the answers, running out of time can destroy your score, so always practice with time limits.
For example, in Writing, spend no more than 20 minutes on Task 1 and 40 minutes on Task 2.
Train yourself to plan quickly, write steadily, and leave 3 to 5 minutes at the end to review for mistakes.
Likewise, in the Reading section, divide the 60 minutes carefully, and don’t spend more than 20 minutes on any single passage.
Don’t wait until the last week to start practicing timing.
In IELTS, you don’t need equal scores in every section; your overall band score is the average.
So, if you’re naturally better at Speaking and Listening, invest more time in mastering those areas.
To find your strengths, take two or three full-length practice tests and compare your section scores.
This strategy doesn’t mean you should ignore weak areas, though.
But instead of spending 80% of your time on your worst skills, you need to split your time more wisely (e.g., 60% on strengths and 40% on weaknesses).
