Free TOEIC Part 2 Practice Questions and Answers
TOEIC Part 2 (Question-Response) is 25 questions — more than Part 1 and Part 4 individually — and nothing is printed. You hear a question or statement, then three responses, and you get one pass at it. Most test takers lose marks here not because the English is hard but because they answer the sound instead of the question word.
Below are 25 practice items grouped by the question type that opens them, so you can drill the decision that actually decides the mark.

Key Takeaways
- Part 2 is 25 questions — the second-largest Listening part after Part 3 (39) and Part 4 (30).
- Only three options per question, and none are printed. Nothing to re-read.
- The first two or three words decide the answer: who / where / when / why / how / do / have / will, or a statement with no question word at all.
- Indirect answers are usually correct. “Where is the report?” answered by “Maria took it home” is right; “In the report” is the trap.
- Same-sound distractors are deliberate. If an option repeats a word from the question, treat it as suspect rather than as a match.

3. Who left this folder on my desk? (A) On the second shelf. (B) I have no idea. (C) A folder of contracts.

Answer: (A).
5. Where can I get this document notarised? (A) It needs two signatures. (B) There is an office on the ground floor. (C) By Friday at the latest.

WHY and HOW questions

Yes/No and auxiliary questions
15. Did you receive my email about the deadline? (A) The deadline is Friday. (B) I have not checked my inbox yet. (C) Send it to my email.
Answer: (B). Note that (B) never says “yes” or “no” — that is normal.

Answer: (B).
Statements and requests (no question word)
20. This printer is out of toner again. (A) I will order a cartridge. (B) Two hundred pages. (C) Yes, it prints well.
Answer: (A). Statements invite an offer, an agreement, or a solution.
21. I cannot open the attachment you sent. (A) I sent it yesterday. (B) Let me resend it as a PDF. (C) The attachment is important.
Answer: (B).
22. Could you review this contract before noon? (A) It is a two-year contract. (B) I have a meeting until eleven, but yes. (C) Noon is fine for lunch.

Answer: (A).
25. Would you like me to arrange a taxi? (A) The airport, please. (B) That would be helpful, thank you. (C) It arrived on time.
Answer: (B). (A) answers a different question — where to — and is the most common wrong pick on offers.
The two habits that fix most Part 2 losses
- Lock the question word. Repeat it silently — “where”, “why”, “how many” — before the options start. If an option answers a different question word, it is wrong regardless of how natural it sounds.
- Distrust repeated words. An option that echoes a noun from the question is usually a trap. Correct answers tend to paraphrase, not repeat.
FAQ
How many questions are in TOEIC Part 2?
25. It is the second-largest Listening part, behind Part 3 (39) and Part 4 (30).
How many answer choices does Part 2 have?
Three, spoken only. Part 1 and Parts 3–7 use four options; Part 2 is the only part with three.
Why do so many correct Part 2 answers seem indirect?
Because ETS tests comprehension rather than word matching. “I have no idea” or “Check with Accounting” are complete, natural answers — and the direct-sounding option is usually the trap.
Should I guess if I miss the audio?
Yes. ETS publishes no negative-marking rule for TOEIC Listening and Reading, so an unmarked answer can only score zero.
