There’s no short tone, so you need to speak immediately after the recording finishes. Ensure you imitate the intonation and stress pattern clearly.
Describe Image	You’ll see an image and need to describe it in detail.	There will be 25 seconds to observe and prepare your answer. The response time is 40 seconds.	You should identify and present the main information in the picture. A short tone will notify you when to start speaking.
Respond to a Situation	The audio will play about daily situations, and candidates will answer questions according to the content.	20 seconds are for preparation, and 40 seconds are for responding.	Taking notes is allowed, so make good use of it.
Answer Short Question	You will listen to a question and answer in one or a few words.	Each question is about 3-9 seconds long, and candidates have 10 seconds to answer.	Speak when the status box shows “Recording” as there’s no short tone.
Summarize Written Text	Candidates need to read a text of up to 200 words and then write a summary of 25-50 words.	10 minutes will be given for writing.	You should mention the text’s main point. Manage your word count by using the bottom screen button.

Reading

Reading, the second part of the PTE Core exam pattern, consists of 5 question types.

Multiple Choice, Single Answer	You will listen to a 30-60-second audio and choose only one answer for the multiple-choice question.	Focus on the first and last part of the recording to find the main idea and use choice elimination tactics.
Select Missing Word	An audio record of 20-70 seconds will be played, and candidates need to choose the most suitable word(s) to complete the recording.	Stay focused while listening and eliminate wrong choices.
Highlight Incorrect Words	You’ll listen to an audio with a transcript, and you need to point out words that are different from the content.	Move the cursor along the transcript to ensure you don’t lose track of the flow and find the incorrect word more easily.
Write from Dictation	This task includes 3-4 sentences, each in 3-5 seconds. You’ll listen to them and rewrite the content exactly.	Stay focused as you only listen once, and use the erasable whiteboard for note-taking.
