First and foremost, we want you to know that when you register for IELTS, you have the option to send your test results to up to five universities of your choice.
This is an easy guide on sending your IELTS scores to universities.
If you have already selected the 5 universities you want to send your IELTS score to, you can consider one of the following two methods of sending.
When applying to most universities, you’ll need to provide the original copy of your IELTS Test Report Form. Unfortunately, copies are typically not considered.
It’s highly recommended that you retain the original document and store it securely to avoid the risk of loss during transit.
If you prefer, you can delegate the submission of your application to a reliable institution. (Additional Test Report Forms can only be sent to the universities you’ve chosen, not directly to you.)
If you tested at a US test center, you can have your TRF sent to up to five institutions for free. (Additional postage fees may apply for international institutions.)
To send extra Test Report Forms to your chosen institutions after your test, you will need to fill out an IELTS USA Test Report Form request. (There may be additional fees.)
With an eTRF, you can print out a copy and send it to the universities of your choice by post.
Although paper copies are commonly required, a growing number of universities accept electronic IELTS scores.
Check with the universities you’ve applied to before mailing a paper copy of your results or asking your test center to send one.
If you have taken an IELTS online or computer-based test in countries like Indonesia, Malaysia, or Argentina, you can request a digital test report (eTRF) through the Test Taker Portal.
You can email an eTRF directly to the universities you’re applying to. You can do this as many times as you need as long as the eTRF is valid for two years.
If the university you are applying to allows it, you can send a scanned PDF version of your paper-based Test Report Form.
Your IELTS Test Report Form (TRF) will be ready within 13 days. You can pick it up from the nearest IDP IELTS office. Bring the same ID you used to register.
In general, it takes about 5 business days to send IELTS results online. However, sending paper copies to universities may take longer (5-10 business days).
It’s free to send your IELTS results to up to 5 universities. There is a $3.75 fee for each extra university.
You will have to pay this fee if you want to send your scores to the universities.
If you require additional Test Report Forms beyond the one-month period after your test, you must submit a Supplementary Test Report Form request. A fee is applicable for each additional TRF.
For international students, there is an extra fee of up to $19 for them to send ATRFs to each university.
Knowing how to send your IELTS scores to universities makes the process easier.
